UK Cloud?, originally uploaded by Phil Steere.

I saw this whilst visiting Bodiam Castle (in Sussex UK) on St. Georges day. I must have been feeling patriotic or something!

Bodiam Castle

Bodiam Castle 2, originally uploaded by Phil Steere.
I went camping this weekend with my girlfriend for a little break. What a great weekend for it! The weather was glorious and so were the surroundings.

We paid a visit to the nearby Bodiam Castle which was absolutely brilliant. Well worth a visit if you are in the Sussex area!

Here is some more info:

One of the most famous and evocative castles in Britain, Bodiam was built in 1385 as both a defence and a comfortable home. The exterior is virtually complete and the ramparts rise dramatically above the moat. Enough of the interior survives to give an impression of castle life. There are spiral staircases and battlements to explore, and wonderful views of the Rother Valley from the top of the towers. In the impressive gatehouse is the castle's original wooden portcullis, an extremely rare example of its kind.

Latino Restaurant Opening 16-04-11, a set on Flickr.

I was asked to photograph the opening of a restaurant in Brighton at the weekend.

Had never done anything like that before so was a pretty steep learning curve and first time I had used my flashgun.

I was happy with the results though!

Brighton Marathon

Brighton Marathon Runner, originally uploaded by Phil Steere.

It was the Brighton Marathon today, and what a day for it!

It seems to be getting really popular now, apparently over 13,000 people running.

Anyway, here is shot I took with some pretty heavy topaz adjusting!

Amsterdam Cyclist

Amsterdam Cyclist, originally uploaded by Phil Steere.

I went to Amsterdam last year and took this shot. It is a crop from a much wider original shot that I mostly overlooked as the colours were pretty flat.

Having got Lightroom though I was desperate to find some sort of image with something interesting in to have a play with......

It came out better than expected. Amazing what a bit of an edit can bring to an otherwise non stand-out picture.

Flowers

Flowers, originally uploaded by Phil Steere.

Not much to say about this one really...
I took it at the weekend when I was in London and is another edit from Lightroom I was playing about with. All in all though...

It's a picture of some flowers.

Ohhhhh look at the pretty colours!

Here There Be Monsters

This is an edit of one of my favourite photos from the Here there be monsters gig shots I took.
Only really a conversion to black and white and some tonal adjustments have been done, but I think it's a lot more effective than the original image which is here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/philsteere/5479327288/

Good band as well! check em out: www.myspace.com/htbm

Brighton Graffiti

Brighton Graffiti, originally uploaded by Phil Steere.
Having just got Lightroom this week, it has inspired me to edit some of my older images to see how they could be improved.
This is part of a graffiti wall in Kensington Street, Brighton UK and there is a whole load of it there. Really great work that get's painted over every now and then with something new so worth capturing when you can!
View it on Google Street view here to see the whole thing: Street View

Feline fine..

Dennis 4, originally uploaded by Phil Steere.

I went to London to visit family over the weekend and had a great time.

I managed to capture this picture of my cat having a bit of a lie down in the sun.In fact, that's pretty much all he does. I sometimes think that life would be a lot easier if I were a cat!

Damn you courier people!

So after reading about how good it was and makes a photographers work process a lot easier, I finally took the plunge and ordered a copy of Lightroom 3 from Amazon and it got delivered today...YEA!

Slight bit of damage, not to worry the DVD case will be fine....

Uh oh...

OH MY!

Yea thanks Courier company for treading on it, playing football with it, using it as a frisbee or whatever the hell you were doing! Thanks a bunch!

Needless to say, a phonecall to Amazon was made and I will be getting another copy tomorrow.

Captured: The Ruins of Detroit

This is a really interesting set of photos taken of various buildings in a state of decay in Detroit.

I have a real interest in this type of photography, seeing things that were once grand and new and now just left to waste away.

This great website: http://www.abandoned-britain.com/  catalogues buildings in Britain that are in a similar state....Well worth a look through the galleries on there. (Especially the Cane Hill Mental Asylum).

Fstoppers Original: The Wakeboard Studio Shoot

I came across this really interesting video on photographing wakeboarders. Definitely worth a watch!

I will have to find more things like this to put up!

Off to London this weekend so will hopeful have a few snaps for you...
