Another new toy....D3100 Battery Grip.

I have been waiting for a few months now for a battery grip to be released for the D3100, and this week was the week!

I managed to find a seller on ebay for them and snapped one up (forgive the pun) as quickly as I could.

Anyway, it arrived yesterday and here are my initial impressions:

I think it's brilliant (have never owned a battery grip before though so can't compare it against much!).

Seems of a good build quality, nice solid battery compartment with battery click locks, slide in compartment to keep your original battery cover in as well which is handy.

The finish matches nicely with the rest of the camera and has a nice rubberised grip when holding portrait.

It does require a cable (which is included) for the other shutter release button to work which plugs into the GPS slot on the side of the camera and then into the grip, no problem with this really as it's not in the way.

The shutter button seems very responsive and can do the half press for focus thing

My only gripe is that the main battery cover door (as in the video I posted above) does not fit amazingly snugly (it's not the wrong size or anything and looks fine, just rattles very slightly but that's me being picky!)

Overall, very impressed and very pleased. Makes the camera feel a lot more comfortable in the hands, plus can I get my two batteries in there now!

Holly

Holly, originally uploaded by Phil Steere.

I went to a friends house for the first BBQ of the year yesterday. A great night was had and after the BBQ we lit a fire and drank the night away. Good fun and I went home smelling like bonfire.

This picture is of 'Holly' who belongs to another friend of mine who was there. She is an amazing little dog and probably the most chilled out pet I have ever come across!

A bit of muscle...

A bit of muscle, originally uploaded by Phil Steere.

I went down to Brighton seafront on Monday where they were having a car show. It was quite interesting, but most of the cars were ford fiestas with loads of speakers and a crap body kit on.

I did however see this thing of beauty on the way back though!

How ladylike...

I went down to the beach the other day for my lunch break and managed to get this photo of a dog out for a walk on the beach.

I think she looks quite majestic!

Beachy Head

Beachy Head, originally uploaded by Phil Steere.
I took a trip to Beachy Head (East Sussex, UK) on Sunday and took a few snaps.

The weather wasn't really playing ball (It was grey, very windy and bitterly cold) so I didn't stay for long!

I am sure I will head there again soon when the weather picks up as it's not too far away.

You can find some info about it here (should you be interested!): Beachy Head - Wikipedia

Here is about the only shot I liked enough to upload!

Enjoy!
